Slab Photos (not the beer slab kind!!!)

As promised.. here they are! Sorry about the darkness, we just drove to the block tonight and took them and it was pretty late.

The pic below shows the right hand front cover which will be the master bedroom. You can see the bathroom area - the concrete area is lower than the rest of the slab. This was because we didn't want any differing height of floor between the tiled and carpet areas - it's a "pet hate" of mine!

The pile of dirt on the slab has been caused by the plumber digging the storm water drains and putting the dirt on to the slab. The dirt area covers the 4th bedroom.

The back corner closest to the cam is the rumpus room. The alfresco is in the cut out. Directly behind the alfresco is the family room.

From a previous visit, we noticed that the plumber had marked the ground where the storm water would go across the yard near the alfresco area. We had concerns and the builder agreed, as we want the pool to be built in the area on the left side of the house. When I told Chris, he immediately went down to the site to speak to the plumber and change the layout of the pipes so the construction of the pool would not be affected.

Whilst we were stick-nosing tonight, Chris the builder turned up. He showed us around and pointed out a few things. He's on the same wave length as us, as I have said before, and he realises that he as the builder is there to advise us and in the end do what we want. When he explains things he says, "I am happy to do X, but normally we do Y". He's very agreeable.

Chris said he has a new floor tile sample for us as the polished porcelain one we had chosen was being disconnected, but he said there is another one very similar. Chris also has the finished designs for the kitchen which he'll drop over this week. Yeah!!!

Wow!
That master bedroom isn't big is it?

The alfresco looks like it will be nice. Its not too big and not too small.

Hi Serena, the alfresco will have cedar decking extending out from house so it will be a square shape. As we are not sure where the pool will lie, for now the builder will only put the decking up flush to the edge of the house. When the pool is done we'll extend it out, perhaps another 2 metres. My partner and I are "discussing this"!! The Squirrel's Nest Bloggers.

Hello Anonymous!!! The master bedroom is big... It is about 6 m x 4 m and that doesn't include the 2 walk in robes and the ensuite! We won't be able to hear the kiddies screaming and playing doof doof music at the other end of the house.

Wow. Sounds like my dream home. Doof doof music is you hear at our home. He wakes up, doof doof until he leaves for school, then comes home and starts it again, until he goes to bed, then he shuts his door and it appears to get louder, then when he is finished texting at about 3 in the morning and you bang on his door, it finally finishes.

That sounds lovely! Are you going to decorate around the pool? Because sitting out there in Summer with the family would be nice. Looking at the pool, would look lovely with a decorated area. With an ulimeted amount of money a water feature! What kind of ideas are you having for the landscaping?

Not DREAM home. Just HOME. Your house seems like a dream home.

Hi Serena. Thanks for the nice comment. We are going to decorate around the pool. We have ideas - which I will try and locate pics that look like it to post. We are currently discussing things with a few pool companies, but it looks like we have a particular one in mind. We were hoping for long and "thinish" but we haven't been able to find one we like exactly. We will be most likely going for a frameless glass fence, with the pool butted up against the side fence with some plant beds or tall wall. Not sure yet!! We've waited for the slab to be put in so the pool man can come back and we can discuss the layout. Stay tuned for more!!!

Hi Caitlin... yes it is our dream home... our little squirrels nest.... all warm and inviting, not a white, stark show palance that you are scared to sit in in case you mess it up.

So your looking for a lap pool? I have found some for my new home if you would like some pictures? They are thin and not too big.

Hi Serena... we like the lap pool style, but traditional lap posts are a bit think. We would like it longer and wider. Lap pools we've seen are about 2.5 m wide which is a bit narrow. We'd like at least 3.5 m wide. Concrete seems to be a huge bother, even though we can get the exact shape one wants. Fibreglass seems a lot easier and not as messy. If you have a website to direct me to I'd be happy to have a look, but I think we have one in mind.... of course actually making that final decision sometimes takes a bit of time and bravery!!
